Our Story
At Polar Bear Heating & Air, we are often asked about the origin of our name. The story behind it is quite unique and personal. As young parents, we had two boys aged 8 and 3, who kept us busy and active. We decided to purchase a membership to the NC Zoological Society, which led us to numerous trips to the zoo with our family. During these visits, our youngest son fell in love with a dancing polar bear named Masha.
Masha was part of a large rescue effort from a zoo in Latin America. Originally bred for entertainment in Russia, he was sold to a circus where he spent most of his life in small trailers, traveling from one show to the next. His diet consisted of dog chow, bread, and whatever could be bought at each stop. Due to living in inhospitable conditions for a polar bear, he developed tics and repetitive behaviors.
When we read Masha's information, we saw a very familiar word: autistic. We had heard the same word from our son's doctors. Because of this connection, our family sort of adopted the polar bear. We would make a beeline to see Masha every time we went to the zoo, taking dozens of pictures of him and loving him in our own way.
Over the months, our son quickly progressed. He learned to talk, we worked on social skills, and he began to catch up with other kids his age. Sadly, Masha never recovered and was put down a few years ago. However, his memory lives on in our company's name and spirit.

Hours and Location
We are open Monday through Saturday from 8am to 5pm and are closed on Sundays. Our office is located at 55 East Main Street, Coats, NC 27521. You can view our location on Google Maps.
