Lapham Heating and Cooling is a local, family-owned and operated company that has been serving the Plainwell, MI community since 1962. Jim and Joyce Lapham started the business from their home in Martin, MI, and in 1998, the business expanded to its current location on 10th Street in Plainwell. Over the years, we have grown our building, increased our service vehicle fleet, and added more employees to better serve our customers.

At Lapham Heating and Cooling, we specialize in installing and repairing residential and light commercial heating and cooling units. Our team of trained service technicians and installers are experts in servicing the brands we install, including Comfortmaker furnaces and air conditioners, Burnham Boilers, Bard oil furnaces and Geo Thermal heat pumps, and Bradfor White Water Heaters. We are committed to providing our customers with high-quality products and services, and we strive to ensure that every customer is satisfied with our work.

Hours of Operation

Our regular business hours are Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm. We are closed on Saturday and Sunday. However, we understand that heating and cooling emergencies can happen at any time, which is why we offer 24-hour emergency service.

New Refrigerant Coming Out

The refrigerant we are currently using in home air conditioners has been found to have a negative impact on global warming. As a result, the EPA has mandated a change to a new refrigerant, which will take effect on January 1st, 2025. While R410a will still be available, and parts will be available to keep your current system running, new air conditioners will be more expensive due to the change in refrigerant. Most manufacturers have already begun using the new refrigerant, but there is still an inventory of existing equipment that may last until the end of summer.

Our team of experts can install and service Defender Safety Systems to ensure that your home is safe and protected.

Electrification

There has been recent interest in changing home heating systems from gas or oil furnaces to heat pumps. The Federal government has issued tax incentives for heat pumps, and there are also utility rebates available. With newer technology, heat pumps are able to heat homes at outside temperatures below zero. At Lapham Heating and Cooling, we can help you navigate the process of switching to a heat pump and provide you with expert installation and service.
