Founded in 1936 by N.B. Buchanan, a graduate of the University of Auburn, Comfort Engineering began its journey with a vision of bringing comfort and well-being to homes and businesses. Buchanan's pioneering spirit led him to establish a partnership with Carrier, a leading name in the HVAC industry, marking the beginning of a long and successful collaboration. The company's first residential installation, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rutherford, publisher of the Daily Journal, further solidified its commitment to serving the local community.

World War II presented a significant challenge, halting new installations as resources were diverted towards the war effort.
