At Spicer Plus, Inc., we have been dedicated to keeping your home warm and comfortable since 1915. Our journey began with two brothers who started delivering ice and firewood to homes and businesses. Through three generations and over a century, we have maintained our commitment to honesty, integrity, and customer satisfaction. Today, we provide a wide range of services, including propane distribution, heating oil, HVAC, and hearth and home solutions to residents and businesses in Coastal and Southeastern Connecticut, as well as Southern Rhode Island.

Our history dates back to 1915 when George and Harry Elion founded our company. Initially, we supplied ice and firewood to local homes and businesses. Over the years, we expanded our services by adding coal in the 1920s, fuel oil in the 1940s, and propane gas in the 1950s. Our entities evolved into two corporations, Spicer Fuel Co., Inc. and Spicer Gas Co., Inc., which are now collectively known as Spicer Plus, Inc.

In 1979, Larry Chesler, grandson of George Elion, joined Spicer Fuel after leaving a law practice in Groton. In 1988, John Holstein, owner and developer of multiple southeastern Connecticut businesses, acquired the outstanding interests of Harry Elion. Together, they continued to grow and develop Spicer Plus into the successful company it is today.
