At John R. Young & Company, we have been serving the Upper Perkiomen Valley for over a century. As a family-owned business, we have grown from our humble beginnings in 1890 to become a full-service supplier of family HVAC services, fuel oils, industrial and automotive lubricants, automotive repairs, and more. We are now 5 generations strong, and we look forward to continuing our commitment to providing quality products and services to our customers for many years to come.

Our journey began with the delivery of kerosene and fuel oil to homes and businesses in the small village of Hendricks in Montgomery County, PA. Through the years, we have shown great adaptability, always positioning ourselves to offer customers the products and services they need. We've evolved from a horseback-run business to a thriving company in the Motor Age and beyond.

Our Growth and Development

In 1929, we became one of the first distributors of Pennzoil and installed the first electric service station pump between Allentown and Norristown, PA. As the need for heating oil increased, we constructed a bulk storage plant providing 1.4 million gallons of storage. We also established our Service Department to meet the growing need for service and installations of heating equipment.

In the early 1960s, we adapted our logo, which started with the simple "wise as an owl" theory. At that time, our main line of business was just fuel oil. The owl symbolizes our commitment to watching over your home and keeping you warm while you sleep, reflecting our 24-hour service.

In 1968, we opened a new Warehouse facility to accommodate the growing Pennzoil motor oil and lubricant business, expanding our operations into Berks, Bucks, Chester, and Montgomery County. In 1990, we launched Young's Tire Center in Pennsburg, PA, offering complete PA State Automobile and Emission Inspections, as well as a full line of automotive repairs.

In 1998, our Petroleum Division merged with Fred K. Kleinbach Sons, Inc. to become Young's Petroleum, further strengthening our company and the services we provide to our customers. Our motor oil division continued to expand its distributorship in 1999, providing service in York, Schuylkill, Lebanon, Lancaster, and Dauphin Counties, making us a major lubricant supplier of Pennzoil, Quaker State, Shell, Wolf's Head, and Peak lubricants.

Today and Beyond

Today, we are one of the oldest family-owned and operated businesses in the Upper Perkiomen Valley, continuing to be run by the fourth and fifth generations of the Young family. We remain committed to adapting to the times and needs of our customers, providing them with quality products and services, cleaner burning fuels, and equipment that will provide higher efficiency to save on energy costs.

Our focus continues to remain on our customer's needs, doing business with honesty and integrity, being responsible and accountable, and serving our community. We are proud of our history and look forward to continuing our legacy of excellence and service to our customers.
