At Pierce Refrigeration, we have been the trusted source for commercial refrigeration and HVAC as well as residential heating, cooling, and indoor air quality solutions across southeastern Massachusetts for over 85 years. Our company was started in 1936 by Leslie and Louise Pierce in the basement of their Brockton home. Over the years, their dedication to quality service led them to various locations before settling at our current site on East Center Street in West Bridgewater in 1972.

Our History

The company continued to grow, requiring the additions of a second floor and garage bays, which make up the current facility. Starting with small corner grocery stores in the 1930s, Pierce started installing air conditioning systems in offices and small manufacturing facilities in the 1960s. The rise of supermarkets during this period called for larger-scale refrigeration systems, which Pierce has installed and serviced regularly ever since.

As a family business, Barbara, daughter of Les and Louise, worked alongside her mother in the office, while Roy, their son, joined the business after serving in the Army. In 1982, Ron Zona joined Pierce Refrigeration after earning his BS in Business from the University of Lowell, eventually becoming a full partner in 1993. Steven Ryan started with Pierce as a co-op student in 1984 and continued moving up in the company from service technician to service manager. Joel Freitas started as a service technician, worked his way to Commercial Installation Manager, and upon Roy's retirement in 2017, both Steven and Joel joined Ron as partners.

Today, Pierce Refrigeration is a company of 30+ employees, and while no longer solely operated by blood relatives, we are a family-oriented company and treat every member of our team and each customer as part of the extended Pierce Refrigeration Family.
